ARM Expands Foundry Program; ARM Adds ARM946E and ARM1022E Microprocessor Cores to Its Foundry Offerings
CAMBRIDGE, England, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ --
ARM [(LSE: ARM);(Nasdaq: ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit
embedded RISC processor technology, today announced at the Embedded Systems
Conference, Boston, that it has expanded the microprocessor cores available
through the ARM Foundry Program with the addition of the ARM946E(TM) and
ARM1022E(TM) solutions to the Program's offerings. By adding these two cores to its Foundry Program, ARM is able to offer
original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) a new level of choice and support when
designing ARM® core-based devices for a wide range of applications. ``ARM provides the broadest and most comprehensive partner network in the
industry.
This network consists of industry leaders in silicon and systems
manufacturing, application software, development tools, operating systems,
foundries and design houses,'' said Antonio Viana, director, Foundry Program,
ARM.
``It is important that every one of these partners is able to easily and
efficiently gain access to our proven technology, enabling them to build
better ARM Powered® products.
ARM is committed to supporting this
constantly growing network of Partners while also strengthening the ARM
technology services and design expertise available to developers worldwide.'' About the ARM Foundry Program The ARM Foundry Program is an innovative business model that enables OEMs
in emerging markets to gain access to ARM processor technology for use in the
design and manufacture of advanced system-on-chip (SoC) solutions.
ARM now
offers the ARM7TDMI®, ARM922T(TM), ARM946E and ARM1022E cores through the
Foundry Program. The Foundry Program offers a flexible partnership model that accelerates
the time-to-market for ARM core-based designs and enables OEMs that do not
have access to fabrication facilities to work directly with an approved ARM
semiconductor foundry.
Unlike a traditional ARM license, where a licensee
gains both manufacturing and design rights, the ARM Foundry Program builds a
three-way partnership between ARM, an approved silicon foundry, and an OEM. About ARM ARM is the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC
microprocessor solutions.
The company licenses its high-performance, low-
cost, power-efficient RISC processors, peripherals, and system-chip designs to
leading international electronics companies.
ARM also provides comprehensive
support required in developing a complete system.
ARM's microprocessor cores
are rapidly becoming the volume RISC standard in such markets as portable
communications, hand-held computing, multimedia digital consumer and embedded
solutions.
